<![CDATA[Wedding Favor Ideas Blog]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/ Fri, 30 Jul 2010 03:37:12 +0000 Zend_Feed http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss <![CDATA[Wedding Favors: How to Display]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/How_To_Display_Wedding_Favors Displaying wedding favors is one of the arts in wedding occasion and it's easy to learn how to arrange them. It only needs additional place for them for great presentation.

1. Chose theme that is appropriate to your wedding. If it's summer wedding, try to draw some inspiration from beaches, sand, and seashells; however if it's rainy season, it can be inspired by damp places that give impression of rain days and any other designs that relate to wet season like you can use umbrellas as favors.

2. Search for wedding favors that is fitted to your theme. For example if you're going to have a beach wedding theme why not serve a lemonade mix that is wonderfully refreshing way to decorate the reception tables. You can use flowering plants for a garden wedding theme. Wedding favor is always depending on the wedding theme.

3. You can separate the favors according to the items. You can put it in around the cake; spread them out around the reception area as they can serve as decorations at the same time, like the name card and candles.

4. Arrange the wedding favors in a nice basket or decorative boxed and for the small items put them in a nice decorative bags.

<![CDATA[The Bridesmaid]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/wedding_favors I have seen too many bridesmaids, they come in all shapes and sizes, they are dressed alike, their hair and shoes are the same. How fascinating to look at them that way, they are like dolls. However, when you wanted to really make your wedding unique and personalized. My suggestion is try researching to make some great ideas to how make you're wedding unique, from invitations down to the wedding favor and this includes the dresses of the bridesmaids as well.

Remember your bridesmaids can be your friends, sisters or relatives and not back up singers of yours. They deserve to be different from each other. So, instead of dressing them in very the same way and style. Try to let them choose their own style but still keeping with the theme and the color you prefer for your the wedding. In this way, they will be more happy with this, since they can use again the dress in different occasions without fearing that they

My other suggestion is, instead of giving them the same gifts. Why not give them gifts inspired by their interests, hobbies or what they really need but within your budget.

With these few suggestions and inspirations, I hope this will give some nice ideas to the bride-to-be out there in planning their wedding.

<![CDATA[Wedding Colors]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/wedding_colors wedding_colors

In planning a wedding one of the important details to consider is the color because it can add romance and character to your special day. When choosing your wedding colors, you are giving the entire event with a certain atmosphere which reflects to your personality.

What is your favorite color? If so, you may want to base choices around that color. There are numerous choices of colors, it can depend in the bride favorite flower, the season you are considering and with the theme you wanted for the wedding. However, if you are unsure which color to choose, you can check on the color wheel or the color palette for some inspirations.

When picking wedding color consider the dresses of the bridesmaid and flower girls. If you already have the wedding ceremony and reception venue, think about the colors of these places, decor and drapery. Any colors that do not sound so appealing or will clash, you can eliminate from the color scheme right away.

Color Meanings

When choosing your wedding colors another direction to go is to consider the meanings and symbolism behind each colors:

Red - denotes purity, joy, and celebration, it is the color of happiness and prosperity in China and may be used to attract good luck, love, passion and strength.

Blue - is believed to keep the bad spirits away and also means intelligence, stability and unity. It can be strong and steadfast or light and friendly.

Green - is seen as a sign of life and abundance. This color signifies growth, renewal, health, and environment. The color green means balance, harmony, and stability.

Purple - is royalty. A mysterious color, purple is associated with both nobility and spirituality.

Orange -is a vibrant color. It denotes energy, warmth, and the sun, flamboyant and energetic. Orange brings up images of autumn leaves and represents the changing seasons.

Pink - is the sweet side of red. It represents healthy, happy and contentment. It also denote love, romance, charms, tenderness.

Yellow - is sunshine, hope and happiness.

White - in most of Western countries, white is the color for brides. It also symbolizes purity, cleanliness and innocence.

Ivory- is a soft neutral color that is not so white and has some of the earthiness of light browns. This color represents quietness, pleasantness with a touch of luster and carries the same pureness and cleanliness of white but is slightly richer.

Brown - is a natural and down-to-earth neutral color. It is a warm neutral color same as Ivory. Brown represents wholesomeness and earthiness. It also represents steadfastness, simplicity, friendliness, dependability, and health.

Gray - is an elegant, neutral and balanced color.

Gold - is always identified with riches, abundance and excess. It is a warm color that can be both bright and cheerful as well as somber and traditional.

Silverespecially a shiny, metallic silver, is cool like gray but livelier, more playful. Silver can be sleek and modern or impart a feeling of ornate riches.

Black - is conservative, goes well with almost any color except the very dark.. The color black can also be mysterious, sexy, and sophisticated. Color black to convey elegance, sophistication, or perhaps a touch of mystery. od black

Therefore, when you are planning about the theme for the wedding, consider your personality and which season. Like spring time can use light and pastel colors, summer suggest bright , warm and bold colors while autumn season suggest warm and homey color. Lastly winter wedding, this season is beautiful,it is very colorful using bright and lively colors. While you can also consult the the meaning behind individual colors you are considering to use.

After deciding which color you are using, you can consider if you're using monochromatic wedding color or two different contrasting colors what harmonize with each other. Again use the color wheel of the color palettes for safer choices, in addition to that you can also ask your wedding planner for some suggestions.

<![CDATA[Salt and Pepper]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/salt_pepper Are you wondering why some people use salt and pepper shakers as gifts? Furthermore, some people even collect salt and pepper shakers and even put up museum for these items. They can be found in different conceivable shapes and sizes, which are made of diverse materials from wood, metal, ceramics, cystals, glass and plastics.

With curiosity in mind, I researched about these fun and cute novelty items and read on the history behind this. Luckily, I found something that I can share to you.

History of Salt and Pepper Shakers

Salt and Pepper Shakers have a long and rich history. Before salt and pepper shakers as we know them today, people in the Victorian era placed their salt in open cellars. Salt came in rock form, and it had to be chipped off to be put on food.

Early salt shakers were actually salt mills. They contained a piece inside the shaker that broke the salt into pieces. This feature may also be found in some salt shakers now.

As salt production improved, salt shakers no longer needed the arm to break the salt up. Salt shakers began to take their more modern form. The production of salt and pepper shakers started off took off in the 1940's when the modern ceramics begun.

With further research I have made, I concluded that to make delicious and delectable dishes. Salt and pepper will be always included. You can't only use salt without pepper or vice versa. They are the perfect pair just like in marriage. One should find the perfect match for them.

Here are some inspirations that can be use as favors and additions to your collection.

<![CDATA[Wedding Ceremony Planning]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Wedding_Ceremony Wedding_Ceremony

In weddings, the ceremony is the main event. This is the time where the couple will profess their love and vows. Therefore, it has to be done right!.

Here are some tips and things to consider in planning the ceremony:

 • The Wedding Ceremony: You have the options what ceremony will take place. It can be religious or civil. If you are choosing the religious set-up, make sure you know and consider the different religious traditions.
 • The Location or Venue: It can be held in a church, garden, by the beach or any appropriate venue you choose.
 • The Guests: There are some instance when the guests you invited in the reception is not necessarily have to be invited to the ceremony, but of course guests present in the ceremony should be invited to the the wedding reception. Who will you include on the lists? Will they be immediate family and closest friends or everyone.
 • The Wedding Rituals: You have to list down all of the things and details you want to take in the ceremony. These will include if not all : wedding vows and rings, unity rituals, marriage contract, offerings, ritual readings and some other things that are required if you choose the religious set-up.
 • The Wedding Party: Determine how may people do you want to stand up with you. Take note, if you are going to have small group of guests, it will be a little bit odd if almost half of the people will stand up with you .
 • The Entourage: Choose the people who are close to you aside from your family of course. See to it that they really know you and can commit their attendance to the wedding.

<![CDATA[Out of Town Bag]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/out_of_town_bag I just got back from an out of town wedding, and I am delighted that I took time in attending this nice wedding of Nadia. The wedding took place in Milwaukee, a city of Wisconsin. It was long ride to and from home but I don't mind it since I love travelling and at the same time loves to attend weddings, it amazes me always. Anyway upon checking in at the hotel where the couple suggested, the front desk officer handed me a bag full of goodies and told me that the couple wanted me to have it.

Out_of_Town_Bag

So when I went to my room, like a child I can't wait look what were inside the bag. I spilled all the contents of the bag on my bed. Then there I found maps of the cities, brochures, list of local restaurants, list of places to see and they include also list of numbers to call in case of emergency which I find really very helpful to someone like me who is just new in the city.

They also include some treats like cookies, chips, nuts, bottled water with sticker label of their names. In adddtions to that the bag also contained some cute items that are locally manufactured in the city. Like they include this nice smelling and very invigorating Alterra coffee, which they put it in a personalized small coffee package.

Out_of_Town_Bag

Then they put two cans of beer, which locally brewed in Milwaukee.

Out_of_Town_Bag

And of course it's not Wisconsin without cheese. Since I am a cheese fanatic, this was the one that really caught my attention.

Out_of_Town_Bag

This out of town bag was really cool. It makes us out-of-town guests feel welcome and our attendance was highly appreciated by the couple. For me, this should be a common practice for out-of-town weddings, to show how grateful the couple is to the out-of-town guests who took time out and gave extra effort to attend the event.

<![CDATA[The Bridal Bag]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/The_Bridal_Bag

Through the years of planning weddings. I always suggested a small detail but very useful for the bride, that the bride shouldn't forget on her wedding day. And that is to have a small bag that she can carry with her during the big day, except during the wedding ceremony which she can ask one of her bridesmaids to hold for her.

The_Bridal_Bag

The bride can use this bag as an emergency kit, because we will never know what will happen during the wedding. It is better to have back up plans than to be sorry later on.

So what are the things should be included in bride's bag?

* make up for some retouches
* mint candies to freshen the breathe
* handkerchief
spare earrings
* small bottle of perfume
* antacid and headache medication
* a tampon or a pad

The bag should be handy, it can be requested with the couturier to make a customized bag for the bride so it will blend well with the theme and with the bride's wedding gown.

*** this can be applied to bridesmaids too.

<![CDATA[Something About The Wedding]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Something_About_The_Wedding

When I was planning my sister's wedding and I am still a newbie in wedding planning world. There were some details I really researched about weddings. I even asked my mother's idead and she told me that in every wedding there is this one practice that at least should be followed by the couple especially by the bride, and that is what she called. "something" tradition. Here what she has told me, there should be:

Something Old

Which represents the life the couples are leaving behind while maintaining the connection from past to their new life. These can be any old stuff from your parents or grandparents, or better the bride's or groom's mother wedding gown or any jewelry from the family heirlooms.

Something New

This one convey new hope and affirmation. It is so easy to have these items, because majority of the details and items you will use in the wedding are new or customized.

Something_About_The_Wedding

Something Borrowed

Borrowing from someone is not that difficult to do, but my mom said, the couple should borrow something from someone who is jovial or living a blissful life. For the reason that it is like borrowing happiness, so that their happiness will pass on to the couple.

Something Blue

The color is a symbol of good luck, fidelity, purity and loyalty. Finding an item in this color is also not difficult. Blue handkerchief, blue wedding garter or blue small accessories are some of the few items can be considered.

<![CDATA[Wedding Engagement Pictures]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Wedding_Engagement_Pictures

Wedding_Engagement_PicturesIn this modern time, photography has come of age. Gone are the days of the Polaroid’s and cameras that uses film. Almost all of us are already using the digital camera. We use it in every events and one of those events or special occasions that take advantage of digital picture taking is the wedding. The photographer can take pictures of the couple as long as his memory card and battery lasts.

The couple even have this engagement photo shoot before the wedding. In line with this, the couple has the time to prepare and familiarize themselves to be comfortable in picture taking on their wedding day, plus get rid of their “camera shy attitude"

Wedding_Engagement_Pictures

I made some suggestions for the couples's wedding engagement photo shoot. The couple should prepare at least three best clothes ; formal dress, casual dress and identical clothes or uniform colored shirts which looks very cute. Afterward, these photographs, can be use for the couple's website wedding announcer, their onsite wedding reception audio visual presentations and even on their wedding favors.

Here are some more inspirations, in where to use the pictures:

Wedding_Engagement_Pictures

They can be use for invitations, save the date cards, signature photo frame, guests album favors, place card holder mini albums, personalized guest book and glass coasters.

In addtion to that ideas here are the some other ways; glass photo vase for the table at the reception, cake topper, photo keep sake box, personalized cuff links, lockets and photo frame favors

<![CDATA[Lovebirds]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/my-lovebirds

Lovebirds

Yesterday I was browsing the internet looking for birdhouse that I am planning to use for my next wedding event I am handling. As I browse I found these cute lovely birds, actually they are called lovebirds. I was so curious why they are called love birds and always associted with couples.

This is what I learned about them, a Lovebird is in fact a tiny parrot, from the African continent and Madagascar. They are a social and affectionate small parrot.

In Celtic mythology, Aengus, the god of love, was seen with four tiny lovebirds flying around his head Their name stems from the parrots' strong, monogamous pair bonding and the long periods in which paired birds will spend sitting together.

Until European explorers wrote about them in their journals. The explorers described the brightly coloured birds that they had seen on their travels and people wanted to know more about them. The love birds were imported into Europe and became very popular as wedding gifts because of the loving ways of the lovebirds.

Nowadays using lovebirds as gifts is not that popular anymore, but intstead using lovebird inspired wedding theme is very popular. Here are some suggested wedding favors instead, that captures the essence of lovebirds.

Lovebirds

Doesn't that make the "Lovebirds" Chrome Bottle Stopper a naturally sublime favor for people in love? Perched-lovebird bottle stopper is made of solid chrome, with a notable weight and quality bottle stopper .Clear gift-box design surrounds the lovebird with a clever, cutout tree bursting with heart-shaped leaves; the base is white with a square, soft-green graphic in front that says Lovebirds Chrome Bottle Stopper between two delicate, brown branches, and on top of the box is a white-sating bow and a matching "For You" tag Gift box

And this finely crafted in white porcelain, these modern and romantic salt and pepper shakers make adorable favors for weddings. The exquisite packaging features a pullout box with the two Love Birds comfortably nesting inside. Die cut openings in the box cover allows a small peek into the interior. For added charm, personalize this gift using the versatile Love Bird Paper Band.

<![CDATA[Jordan Almonds]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Jordan_Almonds In the East, where I grew up I have never experienced attending a wedding using almonds as favor, maybe because they are not abundant in our location and almonds is too costly.. So, when I had the chance to attend a wedding in the West, I was amazed that they used these nuts as wedding favors ,which I later found out that they were Jordan almonds. To my interest and awe with the Jordan almonds I even researched about it.

Jordan_Almonds

Jordan almonds are use as wedding favors because of it's cultural meaning particulary in Italian, Greek and Middle Eastern Wedding and later on adopted by Western culture. Fresh almonds have bitter-sweet taste, which signify life, white the sugar coating is added with faith that the newlywed's life will be more sweet than bitter. Before they use only white sugar coating for the nuts but now they come in different colors.

Here some exercepts from where I researched:

Tradition suggests using five Jordan Almonds for each guest. One to signify health, one for wealth, one for longevity, one for fertility and one for happiness.

Different cultural meaning in different countries:

ITALIAN WEDDINGS Five almonds signify five wishes for the bride and groom: health, wealth, happiness, fertility, and longevity. These almonds decorate each place setting as favors, tucked into pretty boxes or tulle bags called *bomboniere* that are often personalized with the couple's names and wedding date.

GREEK WEDDINGS Sugarcoated
almonds in traditional Greek weddings are called *koufeta*. They are placed in little bags in odd numbers and are served on a silver tray. Odd numbers are indivisible, symbolizing how the newlyweds will share everything and remain undivided. Tradition holds that if an unmarried woman puts the almonds under her pillow, she'll dream of her future husband.

MIDDLE EASTERN WEDDINGS Candy-covered
almonds, considered aphrodisiacs, are always on hand.

When using the almonds as wedding favors consider using this Jordan Almonds poem and print it on give tag

Jordan Almonds for Thee

Five sugared almonds for each guest to eat
To remind us that life is both bitter and sweet.
Five wishes for the new husband and wife --
Health, wealth, happiness, children, and a long life!

<![CDATA[Turning Japanese]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Japanese_Theme I have been busy lately preparing for three weddings. Each one of the bride is my friend and they do have their own theme in mind and they wanted it to be executed perfectly by yours truly!. I could hardly get enough sleep because of these weddings.

Let me tell you about the first wedding that will happen on February, I am pretty execited about this since it will be my first wedding event with a Japanese theme. The bride's name is Aiko, she is half-japanese but was born and raise in the west. She haven't visited Japan yet nor speak the language. Therefore, for her up coming wedding she opted to have a Japanese inspired wedding . It will not follow the tradtion of Japanese wedding but she wanted her wedding to show her roots and her culture. As usual, for presentation purposes, I have collected some photos for her to choose from and give her some wonderful ideas.

 Turning_Japanese

To start with her wedding gown, if she wanted, she can wear the usual white wedding gown, though I suggested to her that she can stay away a bit from it and try some new designs with her dress. Since it would not be a traditional Japanese wedding, she could at least adopt some accents from a japanese wedding gown to her own and even for her bridesmaids' dresses.

Turning_Japanese

For wedding ceremony, I got her these items from "the cherry blossom collection". Which are suited for the wedding; it has a ring pillow, pen set and flower girl basket. These items are all made of refined white linen that has been skillfully silk-screened with a design of sweeping branches of delicate cherry blossoms. The hand painted effect is further enhanced wih a romantic signature that makes use of the traditional Japanese character, when translated, means Love.

Turning_Japanese

Wedding reception is of course is not an exception from the theme. The cherry blossoms vellum wine glass shade will be perfect as a lovely table decor that brings an ambience of elegance. And then what is a wedding dinner without wine to celebrate the couple's union, thus this unique wedding toasting flutes in a vase is also perfect. While the glass coaster can be use at the dining table during the wedding reception.

Turning_Japanese

Capture the special moments that are often missed by having these cameras on hand at their festivities. The guests should be invited to snap photos throughout the celebration. Group multiple cameras on a table that is easy to access or set a single camera on each table alongside the centerpiece.

Turning_Japanese

Delicate natural hand fans with detailed cherry blossom print with bamboo rib, are a beautiful favor idea. They are also very useful if the temperature goes up. Personalize them with a cherry blossom sticker along the rib.

Turning_Japanese

Lastly, these "cherry blossom stationery collection" is a wonderful ideas. The collection includes; distinctive window cling, table number card, wedding bulletin, save the date card, favor gift tag and water bottle sticker.

Omedetou!

(best wishes)

<![CDATA[Mama Mia ]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Mama_Mia I just finished watching MAMA MIA the movie and I have watched it for the nth time . I fell in love with the location which I later found out that it is in Skopelos, Greece. What a beautiful wedding set-up.Perfect for romantic wedding in Greece.

Mama_Mia

How I really do love the sceneries, the simple but very chic wedding gown which almost all bride-to-be I know wanted theirs to be patterned in Sophie's gown. I love how her hair that was simply done, no hundreds of bobby pins nor her face was not fully made up. which makes her face looks more natural and refreshing. The mom's dress here is nicely done too!. But it would be unfair if I won't mention the reception, I like how they prepare the place with all those nice lights hanging low and creates cozy and romantic mood.

<![CDATA[My Place Card Holder]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Place_Card_Holder As a wedding coordinator, personally one of my dreaded thing when it comes to the wedding reception, is the seating arrangements of the guests. It's taxing for me if the guests ranges from 150-300, it's a breeze if the guests know their table number . But if there were times that the guests forgot their number and did not bring their invitation with them that's the time that really stresses me out, because it means I have to look at the guest list to search for their names and the assigned table numbers. That's why I always suggest to the couple, to do it in free-seating arrangement rather than in assigned seats.

However, when a friend of mine invited me to her wedding. I saw this cute place card holder with my full name written on it. Oh my! I cannot explain exactly how I feel whent I saw that, it's like I am a VIP . After that I never look at a placecard holder the same way again. So, I thought of researching for some cute and adorable placecard holders for some bright ideas that I can use at the next wedding event I will be handling.

For a fall wedding theme, these fall leaf placecard holders are an option.

These two that I found are just in time for the wedding of my friend this holiday season. (Favors inspired by Christmas holiday)

Of course when winter is over, it's nice to have a wedding ceremony during spring time. It's like a new start and a new begging just like in getting married with a new life together.

Summer is a suggested theme for those couples who loves the beach. The palm tree and flip flops place card holders are good choices.

However, if the couple is not considering seasonal wedding themes, then bride and groom place card holder is best suited for formal wedding reception. Or if it's wine theme wedding, this grapes place card holder is a great idea. Or how about this heart shaped place card holder for Valentne's day theme. The shamrock/trinity love knot place card holder cannot go wrong for St. Patrick's Day Theme.

Lastly, if there are children guests, then for sure, the kids would love these cupcake place card holders.

<![CDATA[Bridal Shower Favors]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Bridal_Shower_Favors My friend Elise, had her bridal shower last month. The bridal shower took place two months before her wedding. This shower was a bit different because it was arranged by her, rather than her friends. Well, she had a good reason for doing this; she wanted to gather all of her girl friends, from childhood to co-workers. She knew that once she gets married, she may not have as much time as before to spend with her good friends.

We had a nice dinner at one of Elise's favorite restaurant. She didn't ask of any gift from us, just wanted our love and support. She gave us some bridal shower favors that were so useful and practical for us. I really loved those favors.

She gave each of us a lavender circle friendship bracelet, just like this one with an engrave pendant.

She also gave this five-piece manicure set. I will definitely use this.

Lastly, this one was everyone's favorite, the handbag hanger or sometimes called purse valet. A very practical way to park your purse if you're in restaurants, meetings, or any other occassions

<![CDATA[Your Unique Wedding]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Your_Unique_Wedding

Every couple I deal with have one thing in common: they want their wedding to be unique or different from the rest of weddings they have attended. Sometimes it is a challenge to me because it takes a lot of brain storming and research to make each wedding unique and make the wedding really standout.

Here are some tips to make the wedding unique:

1. Decide on the theme of the wedding.

2. Choose the colors that best suit the couple, or better, their favorite color or colors. Color combinations are common nowadays.

3. Stick with the theme and colors throughout the wedding, from invitations to decoration.

Here is an example of Blue and White wedding:

Same theme color for the wedding party.

It is important to remember to maintain the same color theme for Save the date cards, invitationstable numbers, cake, and wedding favors etc. This makes wedding unique with a personality. Also, having a wedding website completes your wedding theme.

<![CDATA[Black and Red Theme]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Black_and_Red_Theme

I recently attended a family friend wedding, which happened with only 3 weeks of planning and preparation. When I look at this couple, there is a mystery of love. As love possibilities are infinite, the chemistry between the bride and groom is a perfect example.

First, the guy is a member of a rock band group, long hair with tattoos on his arms. The girl is a sweet girl, very refined and looked like she can't even harm a fly. However, when I saw them together, how the guy could make the girl smile, and how he looked at her fondly. I must admit, they will be together forever.

Their wedding color theme was Black and Red. The bride was in a whitewedding dress, accentuated with a black waistband which looked elegant, and her bouquet was made of red roses. Actually, only red roses were used throughout the whole wedding event. The entire entourage and wedding guests were all wearing dresses in that color.

They also used
black and red colors on their invitations, accessories both for the bride and groom, wedding ceremony and wedding reception.

Best wishes to the newly wed couple!

<![CDATA[Wedding Cake Favors]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Weddng_Cake_Favors Can you imagine a wedding without a cake? I wonder how that would be like. Well I guess it may ruin the occasion. A Wedding cake is indispensable for the magical moment.

Every time I attended a wedding, I never failed to take a picture or at least never missed looking at the cake up close and personal. They look so nice and yummy to eat.

The history of the Wedding cake goes back as far as the Roman Empire, but of course elaborate cake icing was not yet invented.

In earlier days,
wedding cakes were expected to be white. Since white constantly denote purity and innocence. Another way in which a white wedding cake relates to the symbol of purity, is the fact that the wedding cake was originally referred to as a bride’s cake. This emphasized the bride as the central figure of the wedding and made a linkage between the bride and the cake.

Another reason why wedding cakes were white then, is not because of symbolism. It’s for the reason that ingredients were very difficult to find, especially those required for icing. White icing required the use of the only finest refined sugar, it means the whiter the cake, the more wealthy the families appeared.

However, as wedding cakes has evolved, they now come in different colors, shapes and design. Which also shows how modern the brides are now.

The best thing is even using cake as a design idea for wedding favors or any other favors for all occasions. What an exceptional thing to do. Just like these cute favors.

<![CDATA[Tea Party]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/tea_party "I'm a little tea pot short and stout..." ,

Everytime I'm feeling blue, I always sing this song inside my head. Because it reminds me of my childhood, playing tea party with my friends and dolls. Wearing our cute little hats. Pretending we were talking and giggling with our hand covering partly our mouth. Drinking our tea (instant sweet tea) with our little fingers sticking out . Mom used to bake mini cupcakes for us to make our cute little tea party complete. Her carrot cupcake is a sure hit with lots of walnuts in it yummmyyyy!!!

Hmmm this gives me an idea, I'm organizing a bridal shower for a friend in 3 weeks time. And I'm still short of an idea for the theme. I wanted it to be a different one, not the usual naughty bridal shower party that I attended. Well, why not a "Tea Party", just like our good old tea party. . And then I found these favors for the party which I'm sure my friends will love.

Many of us use candle for occassions and celebrations, because it symbolizes so many things such as romance , traditions, commitment, beacon and offering.

One of those celebrations that uses candle is wedding, the celebration of love, commitment and offering of each others' life.

First, we use it as Unity Candle for the wedding ceremony which symbolizes the union of two hearts, two families and a lifetime commitment.

Secondly, as a wedding favor to the guests which represents appreciation for their presence in witnessing this celebration of two hearts in love.

<![CDATA[Wedding in Autumn]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/Wedding-in-Autumn It's the month of October and the leaves started to change their color. The wind that touches my face feels cooler and crisp . There is something in autumn that makes me feel cozy and nostalgic, maybe it's because the colors that catches my eyes. The rustic brown, orange, yellow and dark green which reminds me of a cozy warm home and a hot cup of tea.

A friend of mine is getting married and seeks my opinion. She asked if it's nicer to have their wedding during this month and I said of course it is!. It's a season that rich in warm colors, which means the wedding will be colorful and alive. Even the chance for great pictures set against brilliant autumn foliage, oh my! how I love autumn. The summer has just ended and the temperature is cooler but not too cold, just perfect! .I wanted to call it a wedding in autumn or fall. ( though I prefer using the autumn word ).Their wedding can wear autumn colors. Incorporate fall accents into every elements of their wedding ceremony and wedding reception. I told her that they can hold their wedding reception or party outside and even hold their wedding ceremony there at the same time. By doing this, she and her husband -to -be can save not only from their budget but also save themselves, their families and guests from the hassle of driving from one place to another, what an excellent idea. I suggest these ideas and details that they can incorporate or use on their wedding.

They can bring natural elements to all of their fall wedding decorations. At the wedding reception, have place card holders with fall theme.

Fall leaf
candles are beautiful fall wedding decorations for the tables and can be a perfect wedding favor for the guests to bring home after the wedding.

Autumn candle favors

During dining they can use coasters with fall leaf designs on it, which makes the dining table more personalized.

The toast of the bride and groom is a precious moment . Use an autumn inspired wine toasting flutes set with fall leaves on the base to toast to infinite love. These lovely glasses can be used every year to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

Well, after discussing all of these to her and her husband-to-be, guess what???.... They have asked me to be their wedding planner! yey! I'm so excited . I promise to my friend that she will have a memorable and lovely wedding day.

<![CDATA[If The Shoe Fits]]> http://www.weddingavenue.com/blog/If_The_Shoe_Fits shoes

I wonder why girls are so fascinated by shoes. Girls can't resist the urge to look, try them on and even buy them...Hmmm but I guess I won't find the rationale behind the urge to add an extra pair of shoes to my existing closet collection. As I, myself a self-confessed shoe fanatic. . I am one of those who are on tight budget and promised to save, but still cannot resist to buy a pair or two when my favorite shoe store goes on sale (my mom won't be happy when she read this). But what can I do they look so good on my feet and goes well with my nice dresses.

Anyways, many of the brides that I met and dealt with, are very particular with their wedding shoes. Even if their wedding gown is long and no one can even catch a glimpse of their shoes unless they pull up their dress. Nonetheless, I've seen almost if not all, the different types of bridal shoes.

From a simple custom made white sling back, which is what my friend Joan actually wore...

To these colorful pumps that Kathleen wore, for which I found so cute and different.

But what the heck! This was their special and memorable moment and they have every right to choose whatever shoes they wanted to wear on their wedding day.

But of course what is a wedding if there were no wedding favors for their guests. Take a peak of these pretty favors that suits a shoe fanatic bride.
